The chosen – wedding scene

This is ( for me) a very moving part from the movie The Chosen The book is from Chaim Potok I myself am a total atheist with Jewish background Living in Europe and after 1933 – 1945 I am sure there is no God and there never was But I find this very moving The Chassidim are descending from Poland and Russia where they where persecuted It is a Jewish mystic movement founded in the 18th century in eastern Europe by Baal Shem Tov that reacted against Talmudic learning and maintained that God’s presence was in all of one’s surroundings and that one should serve God in one’s every deed and word.Many saved their lives going to the USA The ones that fled to Europe where killed by the Nazi’s Why this movement moves me ? I have no answer to that. What little people know is that there remain some Chassidim dynasties that are opposed to Israel cause the bible states : Israel will be jewish again when the Messiah returns That not being the case they renounce Israel as a state . It is a minority but still Enjoy
